THE GOVERNORS OF WILBURY SCHOOL The Governors of Wilbury School share the responsibility for the school, its value for money, its proper standards, and management, its fairness in dealing with pupils and staff, and its communication with parents and the public. Who are they - they are a balanced mix of people who include - parents, teachers, staff, Local Authority representatives and co-options from the wider community. Each person has to be re-elected every four years. What are their roles? They have three main ones - a) To provide a Strategic View (responsible for how the school is run, not running it) b) To act as a Critical Friend (Exercise the right to discuss, question and refine proposals) c) To ensure accountability (Governing body answers for its actions to the parents and the wider community) The Governors are the School’s ambassadors, as well as critical friend, and guard standards in education, efficiency and relationships. Essentially they work very closely with the Headteacher , who is responsible for the day to day management of the school.
