Welcome to The Place2Be
The Place2Be works with children, teachers and parents/carers too,
providing therapeutic support to address social, emotional and
behavioural problems.
The Place2Be helps build children’s confidence and self-esteem,
enabling them to cope with difficult life events, establish
friendships and focus in class. This in turn makes school a happier
place to be for all the children and the school staff.

The Place2Talk.
We are getting close to Christmas and all
children are now well established in their new classes.
Last week I introduced myself to all Year 1
classes. I particularly talked about The Place2Talk, what it is here
in Wilbury for, and how they can get to have a session. As usual, I
will brace myself for the uptake, and already my harvest of yellow
slips on Monday morning has increased hugely.
A lot of the faces are already familiar to me,
and I look forward to getting to know this new Year 1 and putting
names to all the faces.
More than 300 children have already accessed
The Place2Talk since September, bringing a host of issues from
bereavement to friendships. I am always humbled by the trust
children give to me, and am amazed how instinctively Year 1 children
know what we are here for.
The Place2Be.
We
welcome Abigail, Shirley, Nadine and Margaret to Wilbury as new The
Place2Be volunteer counsellors. We also welcome back Clare and
Already 16 children are receiving long-term
support with The Place2Be. We will be running to our capacity of 19
by early in the New Year.
I feel it is important to say that I am always
approachable- just tell anybody at the school reception you want to
speak to Jon at The Place2Be and we can organise a time to meet if
you have any concerns around your children, or just feel you need a
space for a chat. The Place2Be is a confidential service- we are
here in the school to offer support and the more we can identify the
children who need this support, the better service we can offer.
Turkish Language Parenting Course.
Semra, from CAMHS, is very kindly facilitating
a Turkish Language Parenting Course at Wilbury. I am happy to have
been part of organising this with Kay, our Inclusion Manager, but am
also very happy to pass this on to Ferdiye Hassan, our PSA at the
school, who has worked closely with Semra and the Turkish community
at Wilbury to make this possible. 13 parents attended the first
session and this will continue until Christmas. |
